Introducing Our Lovely West-Facing Rooms!

Soothing Sunset View

The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa features a view of the Higashiyama Mountain that can be seen from the 8th-floor lobby and from rooms facing east. However, it is Nishiyama Mountain where the beautiful sunset falls.

The feature of the west-facing room Essential is that you can see a beautiful sunset falling on the West Mountain between buildings. Especially from rooms 12 and 14 on the upper floors, you can see a beautiful sunset if the weather is clear!

The oldest building in Kyoto! Retro shopping street signboard!

Some of the west-facing rooms on the 7th floor, and the top floor of the guest rooms, have a view of the characteristic green signboard of the Shinkyogoku shopping district!

Shinkyogoku Shopping Street is located on the west side of the street of Shijo-Kawaramachi, which is also called the busiest shopping street in Kyoto. This shopping street with a slightly retro atmosphere was established in 1872 (Meiji 5). It is said that this new shopping street was created by reorganizing the precincts of a temple in order to revitalize Kyoto, which was losing its vitality after the capital was relocated to Tokyo during the Meiji Restoration.

The Shinkyogoku shopping arcade has existed in Kyoto for about 150 years and is said to be the oldest shopping arcade in Kyoto. You can see the historic signboard from Rooms 728 and 732, which are also Essential Rooms.

You can also see the Gion Festival Yamaboko procession.

The Gion Festival is the most colorful summer festival in Kyoto. Unfortunately, after The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa opens in 2020, the procession will not be held for two consecutive years. Therefore, we have not been able to confirm whether the Yamaboko floats will be visible from the rooms during the actual procession, but as you can see from the photos of the sunset and the signboard in Shinkyogoku, you should be able to get a slight view of Kawaramachi Dori, or the Yamaboko procession.

In 2022, when the Gion Festival and the Yamaboko Junko will be held, guests staying in the Essential Rooms on the upper floors on the west side of the hotel will be the first to view the Yamaboko Junko from The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa!

We would like to pray for next year’s festival to be held in the spirit of the Gion Matsuri Festival, which is believed to ward off plague and disease.

If you would like a room with a view of the sunset or Kawaramachi Street, please feel free to inquire with our staff at the time of reservation. We cannot guarantee in advance, but we will make every possible effort to accommodate your request depending on the situation on the day of the event!
